Andrew Shand has accepted a tennis scholarship to Davis & Elkins College which is located in West Virginia.

This university competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, an NCAA Division II college. Due to this conference, Andrew will be travelling into neighbouring states such as Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. Andrew will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce, specialising in Sports Management.

Andrew is from Hawkes Bay which is a region located on the east coast of the North Island in New Zealand. He lives with his Mother Sarah, Brother Hamish, and Grandfather Landale who is 91 years of age. When Andrew was 6 years old his father sadly passed away due to illness.  Andrew wanted to chase his college dream for not only himself but for both of his parents.

Davis & Elkins has not the biggest school with just under 1,000 students, and the town he will be based in has a population of 7000 people. Andrew wanted to be in a small town with a small college based on the preference of the lifestyle a quieter community. This is a perfect fit for Andrew due to the opportunities athletically, academically and culturally.

Andrew dedicates this opportunity to his mother as without her this would not have been possible.

It has been an absolute privilege to work with such an amazing person and athlete like Andrew and we cannot wait to see him compete in August 2019!
