Louie Danielson | Winthrop University

Louie Danielson has put pen to paper with Winthrop University. He will be joining fellow Platform Soccer players Tyler Hornsby and Sean Green. With Louie being a tall strong CB, he will slot in next to Sean making 3 out of their back 4 Platform athletes. Hopefully next year we can get a Left Back on their roster to make it a full back 4 of our boys.

Winthrop University is an NCAA Division 1 school that competes in the Big South Conference. Winthrop has around 6,000 students and is located in Rock Hill, South Carolina with a very beautiful old school design to the campus. Winthrop is also a soccer program on the rise, going 8-10 (with a tough schedule) during the 2021 season and making the semi-final of the Big South tournament. This is their strong season since 2015 and hopefully, they can continue that form into 2022 and with the addition of Louie, really make a splash in the Big South.

Louie is a defender from Auckland, New Zealand and plays for Auckland City FC. City are one of the premier clubs in the country, boasting a number of ex-professional players, national team players and US college players too. This is a fantastic place for Louie to develop his skills and learn from some experienced players.

From Louie:

“What attracts me to go to college in America is the opportunity to get a respected degree and to play soccer at a high level where I can further develop both as a soccer player and a man in society.”
