Michael is from Auckland, New Zealand and signed up with Platform back in August 2021. He is a talented winger with the ambition to continue developing his skills and take his game to the next level, over in the US. This isn’t new to Michael as he moved from his original high school Hamilton Christian School to Mount Albert Grammar School in 2019, with hopes of playing in a more competitive school. Michael was a key member of MAGS 1st XI, scoring goals and setting up teammates.
Michael signed with Bushnell University, which is an NAIA program in Eugene, Oregon and competes in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Bushnell is a small private christian school which was the big draw for Michael.
Michael was originally recruited by there previous coach and before an offer was on the table for Michael, he moved to a new program. However, Michael decided to stick with Bushnell, it was important for him to find a school which had an emphasis on religion while still having fantastic academics and a soccer program full of opportunities under a new head coach. We are wishing him safe travels and plenty of success when he heads there this July.
From Michael:
“I chose Bushnell Because of the amazing things that they are able to provide for me. Such as helping maintain a spiritual lifestyle whilst studying and playing football at a competitive collegiate level.
Working with Platform was one of the best decisions I made in 2021, without them I wouldn’t be in a position to look as far as going to the states to study abroad. They gave me this opportunity and throughout the entire process they helped with everything I needed, no matter whether I was in doubt or worried they had my back.
Going overseas is quite a scary thing but I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity. I look forward to the experience living on campus and meeting new people, but most importantly being able to be in the states is something I’m thrilled about in itself. “
