Henry Wang signed up with Platform back in May 2021. He is a quality golfer who went to Macleans College, arguably New Zealand’s premier golf high school with numerous National Championships including 2018 & 2019 successes that Henry was a big part of. His talents have also seen him captaining the Auckland U19 golf team in the youth grade interprovincials and bringing home plenty of silverware, namely NZ Junior Interprovincials Player of the Year in 2019. He signed with Platform to help take his talents to the next level and push himself in a competitive US environment.
Henry signed for University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), an NCAA Division 1 program located in Edinburg, Texas and competes in the Western Athletic Conference. This is a very interesting conference, with schools from almost all over the country. UTRGV compete against schools from Texas, Arizona, California, Washington, Illinois, New Mexico and Utah. Henry tossed up a few options before choosing UTRGV and we are super excited to see him compete and hopefully win some titles for their program.
From Henry:
“The idea of a scholarship to America has been a dream of mine ever since I understood how great the system is. I have seen many of my friends attain scholarships to study abroad and the joy and development they have seen and experienced have helped them become more well-rounded people not only to themselves but have inspired people like me to thrive to see what I can become in this world and in my lifetime. I want to explore the world and eventually have the power to inspire.”
