Congratulations to James Slessor who has signed his swimming scholarship agreement with Youngstown State University (YSU)! YSU competes within the NCAA Division 1 Horizon League Conference. This is a very competitive conference with a lot of strong swimming programs. We are hoping that with the addition of James he can help them with some conference championships!
This college really appealed to James as it had what he was looking for both academically and athletically. It was such a pleasure working with James and his family and we cannot wait to watch James compete in the Fall of 2022. Next stop, Ohio

“I am choosing to strive for the USA because I was inspired by two fellow teammates who had gained scholarships in the USA, and they said that signing was one of the best decisions they have ever made. My swimming goals are to gain climb up through the conference rankings to eventually become the best in the conference, then state, and then to obtain an NCAA National Title. I am also aspiring to represent my country internationally and make New Zealand proud.
The opportunity to experience being part of an elite team and be able to use incredible swimming resources is a dream of mine. I am looking forward to being part of a college team that will always have each other’s backs. The opportunities a scholarship can offer in America are endless – not only in my sport but also academically as well.”
