Kaea is from Auckland, New Zealand and went to Saint Kentigern College. Kaea is a star soccer player with his performances for both high school and Western Springs have been recognised on the national level being selected in both NZ Secondary Schools team and the NZ Maori team.

Kaea signed up with Platform in August 2021. He was determined to find a quality D1 school where he could take his game to the next level and give himself an opportunity to grow and develop into a professional player.

Kaea penciled in a fantastic deal with Fairfield University is a Division I program in Fairfield, Connecticut, competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Fairfield have a very strong soccer program, they have won 5 MAAC titles (tied for most titles out of all teams in the league) with the most recent title in 2017. Fairfield has some fantastic facilities including the beautiful Lessing Field, stunning locker rooms and much more! Kaea chose Fairfield over several other quality schools as it was the best fit with his family values. Fairfield are fierce on the field, but off the field always take time to give back to the community through a number of charitable events they put on.

From Kaea:

Why I chose Fairfield?

“I chose Fairfield because of the great coaching staff, great facilities, and great location. They made it a priority to connect with my whanau from the jump which showed me that they share the same values as me.”

My experience so far working with Platform?

“I felt a part of the Platform Whanau from day 1. Amrit and his team did a good job to help my family and I understand the college process and place me in the right environment. We put our trust in Amrit and he never let us down.”

What am I looking forward to in the US?

“I’m looking forward to getting out on the pitch in the US and playing football in a new environment which I think will be good for me. I’m also excited to meet new people and travel to different places.”
