We are bursting with pride to announce that two of our tennis athletes, Will Roberts and Ruby Young, have verbally committed to two elite NCAA Division I colleges. Will and Ruby’s commitment to excellence on and off the court has not only made us proud but has also ignited a sense of excitement for the extraordinary futures that await them at the collegiate level!
Hailing from the beautiful shores of New Plymouth, New Zealand, Will Roberts is an emerging tennis talent ready to take his first step into the college scene. After extensive deliberations with our dedicated recruiting manager, Will Clarkson, Will Roberts has decided to embark on a new chapter in his tennis journey. He’s set to join the prestigious University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in the spring of 2024. UTRGV is an NCAA Division I college which competes in the Western Athletic Conference. We’re thrilled to see this Kiwi tennis sensation bring his skills to the courts of UTRGV and look forward to the remarkable contributions he’ll undoubtedly make to the team!
UTRGV is equipped with some jaw-dropping sports facilities, including a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility with everything from speed and strength equipment as well as free weight and aerobic/cardio equipment. In the fall of 2020, the school’s tennis facility underwent renovations of its courts and is still planning to expand the footprint of the facility by upgrading its locker rooms, building a sports medicine area, and new bleachers.
Originating from the city of Christchurch, New Zealand, Ruby Young is a rising tennis star whose journey has taken an exciting turn. Following extensive discussions and careful consideration, Ruby has made the decision to join the esteemed University of Wyoming, an NCAA Division I institution, and become a proud representative of the university’s tennis program. Ruby’s journey to Laramie in the fall of 2024 promises to be a testament to her unwavering dedication and talent, making her home country and her future collegiate home exceptionally proud. We eagerly anticipate the impact this Kiwi tennis sensation will make within the competitive arena of the Mountain West Conference and look forward to celebrating her journey to success!
The University of Wyoming is also no stranger to having some impressive sporting facilities. The UW Tennis Complex, located in the Rocky Mountain Region, stands as one of the foremost tennis facilities in the area. It serves as a cutting-edge home for Cowgirl tennis and is a source of pride for Laramie. With a total investment of $2.75 million, this state-of-the-art complex boasts four courts and was inaugurated in the autumn of 2011. The university is also equipped with a staggering 46,000 square-foot athletics center used for strength and conditioning, sports medicine and includes a screening room for teams to watch footage of their performances in games or trainings.
