The College Cup, also referred to as the NCAA Division I men’s soccer tournament serves as the premier event to determine the Division I men’s national champion. The tournament’s inception dates back to 1959, when it featured just eight participating teams. Over the years, it has grown substantially and now accommodates 48 teams, with each Division I conference tournament champion being granted a spot.
The College Cup is a showcase of exceptional talent and competition, as the best college teams from across the nation battle it out in thrilling matches. It serves as a stage where up-and-coming soccer athletes establish their presence within the American college system, with the aspiration of launching their professional careers!
With the 2023 College Cup officially kicking off next week, here are all of the key dates you need to know:
Selection Show – November 13, 2023
- The 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship bracket will be revealed on the Monday preceding the commencement of the first round of matches.
First Round – November 16, 2023
- Sixteen initial single-elimination matches will take place at various non-predetermined campus locations. The victor of each game will progress to the second round.
Second Round – November 19, 2023
- Another sixteen single-elimination matches will take place at various non-predetermined campus locations. The victor of each game will progress to the third round.
Third Round – November 25 – 26, 2023
- Eight single-elimination third-round matches will take place at various campus locations. The victor of each match will then progress to the quarterfinals.
Quarterfinals – December 1 – 2, 2023
- Four single-elimination quarterfinal matches will occur at various campus sites, and the victors of these four quarterfinals will then proceed to the championship final site in Louisville, Kentucky!
Men’s College Cup – December 8 & 11, 2023
- On Friday, December 8, 2023, there will be two pivotal single-elimination semifinal matches. The victors of these semifinals will proceed to the national championship game, set for Monday, December 11, 2023!
